How to monitor an event

Monitors have several controls that enable them to run events smoothly. This article describes those controls and how to use them.

Important notes

• We strongly recommend using a laptop or desktop computer.
• Use Chrome, Firefox, or Safari
• To minimize chances of browser-related issues, use a private window:
  
  • Chrome: Command+Shift+N on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows
  • Firefox: Command+Shift+P for macOS or Ctrl+Shift+P for Windows
  • Safari: Command+Shift+N

Stage

• Go Invisible: Go invisible (hide video and audio from the event) by clicking the settings icon and unchecking the “Display video” box.
• Ban Attendees from Chat: Prevent specific Attendees from participating in the Chat by going to the Participants tab, hovering over the Attendee’s name, clicking the More dropdown menu, and clicking Ban From Chat.
• Remove Attendees from Event: If needed, Attendees can be removed from the Event by going to the Participants tab, hovering over the Attendee’s name, clicking the More dropdown menu, and clicking Remove From Room.
• Reset Chat: Click the Reset Chat button to wipe all chat history.

Backstage

• Go Invisible: Go invisible (hide video and audio from the event) by clicking the settings icon and unchecking the “Display video” box.
• Chat with the Host: Click the host’s name to open a text chat channel with them.
• Chat with VIPs: Click any individual VIP’s name to open a text chat channel with them.
• Capture Photos: Initiate the photo booth, and capture and save photos by clicking the camera button at the bottom of the screen and on the modal that will appear.
• Switch Rooms: Transition the Host between VIP rooms to keep moving through the queue by clicking the NEXT button. All Hosts and Monitors switch rooms together when one of them clicks NEXT.
• Shuffle Queue: Move VIPs to new spots in the queue by clicking on their name and dragging them to a new spot. This enables the Monitor to stack the VIPs who are online at the top of the queue and push those who are offline lower down.
• Enter Room: Monitors can enter specific rooms by hovering over the Attendee’s name, clicking the More dropdown menu, and clicking Enter Room.
• Remove VIP from Event: If needed, VIPs can be removed from the Event by going to the Participants tab, hovering over the VIP’s name, clicking the More dropdown menu, and clicking Remove From Room.
